🌿 Abigail Cruey, Resident in Counseling, & 🌲 Derrick O'Neal, Wilderness Guide

Abigail Cruey and Derrick O’Neal combine clinical expertise and outdoor leadership to create meaningful wilderness therapy experiences. Their partnership integrates psychotherapy with the healing power of nature, offering clients a holistic path to growth and resilience. 

 

Abigail Cruey is a Resident in Counseling with over 10 years of experience in mental health care. She works with adolescents through adults, specializing in mood and personality disorders with a trauma-affirming approach. Abigail blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and ecotherapy practices, helping clients reduce stress, build resilience, and reconnect with the natural world. A graduate of New York University, she is currently a doctoral student in Ecological Psychology and Environmental Humanities.

Derrick O’Neal has over 15 years of experience in outdoor adventure and wilderness wellness. He is certified in Wilderness First Aid and trained through NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School), bringing expertise in kayaking, backpacking, hiking, skiing, and rock climbing—developed during seven years living in Norway. Derrick has guided trips across Tennessee, West Virginia, and Norway, focusing on safety, teamwork, and the restorative power of nature.

Together, Abigail and Derrick provide safe, low-impact wilderness therapy that blends counseling, mindfulness, and outdoor experiences to help clients find balance, healing, and deeper connection to themselves and the world around them.
