Gottman Method

The Gottman Method is a research-based approach to couples therapy developed by psychologists John and Julie Gottman. It is grounded in over four decades of scientific research with thousands of couples and focuses on strengthening relationships by improving communication, deepening emotional connection, and helping partners manage conflict in healthier ways. Rather than trying to eliminate conflict, the Gottman Method teaches couples how to understand each other more fully, express needs without criticism, and stay emotionally connected even during difficult conversations.

This approach emphasizes building a strong friendship, increasing respect and appreciation, and creating shared meaning in the relationship. Couples learn practical, evidence-based tools to reduce harmful communication patterns, repair after conflict, and support each other’s goals and values. The Gottman Method is suitable for couples at any stage of their relationship, whether they are seeking to resolve ongoing challenges, prepare for marriage, or strengthen an already stable partnership.
